I apologize for the lack of updates. There are many new Richard Dawkins interviews and related videos that I will link to soon (at the moment I'm spending most of my free time preparing for an important solo bass performance in Berkeley). In the meantime, you can find many of the more recent Dawkins videos by searching YouTube or at RichardDawkins.net.

Root of All Evil?
The Root of All Evil?, by the Oxford University evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins, is his controversial documentary that complements his bestselling book The God Delusion. Dawkins presents his view of religion as a cultural virus that, like a computer virus, once downloaded into the software of society corrupts many of the programs it encounters. It isn't hard to find examples to fit this view; one has only to read the dailies coming out of the Middle East to see its nefarious effects.

Excellent video profiling Richard Dawkins starting from the early days of The Selfish Gene.

Richard Dawkins reads excerpts from "The God Delusion" and anwsers questions at Randolph-Macon Woman's College in Lynchburg, Virginia on October 23, 2006. This Q&A features many questions from Jerry Falwell's Liberty "University" students. In Richard's tour journal he says: "Many of the questioners announced themselves as either students or faculty from Liberty, rather than from Randolph Macon which was my host institution. One by one they tried to trip me up, and one by one their failure to do so was applauded by the audience. Finally, I said that my advice to all Liberty students was to resign immediately and apply to a proper university instead. That received thunderous applause, so that I almost began to feel slightly sorry for the Liberty people. Only almost and only slightly, however."

Richard Dawkins' jaw-dropping talk on our bizarre universe (TEDTalks) - Richard Dawkins is Oxford University's "Professor for the Public Understanding of Science." Author of the landmark 1976 book, The Selfish » Gene, he's a brilliant (and trenchant) evangelist for Darwin's ideas. In this talk, titled, "Queerer Than We Suppose: The strangeness of science," he suggests that the true nature of the universe eludes us, because the human mind evolved only to understand the "middle-sized" world we can observe. (Recorded July 2005 in Oxford, UK. Duration: 22:42) - More TEDTalks at http://www.ted.com/

"The enlightenment is under threat. So is reason. So is truth. So is science, especially in the schools of America. I am one of those scientists who feels that it is no longer enough just to get on and do science. We have to devote a significant proportion of our time and resources to defending it from deliberate attack from organized ignorance. We even have to go out on the attack ourselves, for the sake of reason and sanity. But it must be a positive attack, for science and reason have so much to give. They are not just useful, they enrich our lives in the same kind of way as the arts do. Promoting science as poetry was one of the things that Carl Sagan did so well, and I aspire to continue his tradition." - Richard Dawkins

I think the voiceover is from another video but this is an excellent excerpt with some great space imagery.

Richard Dawkins recently spent some time with us in studio to talk with us about religion and his latest book "The God Delusion." This video is almost the full length show which was 1hr 15 mins. Richard Dawkins' asserts that belief in god is irrational and inflicts great harm upon societies. Jeremy Paxman interviews Professor Dawkins as part of the Newsnight book club.

There is a war going on against science and reason. The pseudoscience of "Intelligent Design" is attacking the Darwinian Theory of Evolution, and trying to inject God into science

This week, in our last show before Christmas, we are joined by a formidable and varied cast debating the big issues.
Professor Richard Dawkins' latest book "The God Delusion" -- a powerful attack on religious fundamentalism and God "in all its forms" -- has been a sensation, topping the best-sellers' list and proving that serious argument sells books as well as igniting debate. Professor Dawkins joins us to make his case alongside former Labour MP, socialist and life long Christian Tony Benn.

Produced in 1987 by Jeremy Taylor and Richard Dawkins for BBC's HORIZON series. It was based on his book of the same name, and won the Sci-Tech Award for Best Science Documentary of the year.
Description from the BBC's education catalogue: "...The evidence proposed is well-organized and current. The video first presents creationist ideas, articulated by Texans who support the theory of special creationism, and then provides vivid contradictory data through observation, computer simulations, robotics, experiments and close examination of designs in nature. Its central argument is that the diversity and variety we see in such complex adaptations as the eye and insect mimicry can best be explained by cumulative natural selection over long periods of time. With its vivid blend of argument and scientific detail, The Blind Watchmaker will enrich even the most advanced student's view of evolution."

The Root of All Evil? is a two-part documentary written and presented by Dr. Richard Dawkins, Professor of the Public Understanding of Science, Oxford University, and author of The Selfish Gene, The Blind Watchmaker, Climbing Mount Improbable, Unweaving the Rainbow, The Ancestor's Tale, and The God Delusion.
PART 1. The God Delusion
PART 2. The Virus of Faith
Dawkins is so compelling in his on-camera narrative style in his cultured British accent, marshalling his facts, examples, and interviews so convincingly that when you reach the end you are compelled to answer Yes! to the rhetorical question posed in the documentary's title.
Of course, religion is so pervasive around the world and throughout history that it is a two-edged sword that cuts both ways - a force for unspeakable evil as well as unmitigated good. It is Dawkins' belief that because of the widespread availability of mass communications coupled to weapons of mass destruction, the evil outweighs the good and that it is time for humanity to grow beyond religion and toward a worldview of science and reason.

About
It was only in late 2006 that I became aware of Richard Dawkins' work in any meaningful way. I'm sure that I was exposed to his work over the years and I have been aware of a few of his books such as The Selfish Gene but I hadn't given him much thought until I stumbled across some videos of his on YouTube. That is, while I am interested in biology and chemistry and many other scientific disciplines, I tend to gravitate (no pun intended) to physics. I've been an Atheist all of my life, even when I was going to Sunday School an even at my Bar Mitzvah. The events of the past 5 years have changed me from being merely apathetic about religion to concerned and scared. I've found that Richard expresses my views in ways that I never could and I have learned a lot in the process of reading his book The God Delusion and watching his videos. I want to thank my parents for raising me to think for myself and for exposing me to not only science but the cultural aspects of religion of which I do have fond memories.
I spent over a month (not continuously, of course) searching out and watching his videos on YouTube and Google Video but found that the organization of these videos was very poor (particularly, at YouTube) and that there was a lot of duplication of material. This is my attempt to straighten out the sites that I've found and present them in a way that will help other people appreciate his work. I believe he is doing something very important and I want to do what I can to help support him. If anyone finds that any of these links are broken or have any related sites that I should link to, please e-mail me. I've included some thumbnails from many of the videos to help make it easier to remember which ones have been seen or not (it was a big help to me when I was making my way through them the first time). Note that none of these videos were posted by me and none of them are hosted at this site. I really appreciate the time and effort that was spent by the people who posted these. Thanks!
I'd like to thank Chris Davis for letting me use his brilliant "Dawkins Fish" image.
